New Raiffeisen building Vienna
Plan for building extension
The media sculpture "Energiehaushalt" (Energy Management) is a column, four metres high and half a metre wide, displaying the office building's daily energy production and consumption processes. Entries are continuously supplied by the building's smart-metering system. Energy losses and yields are displayed in real time. The installation functions on two levels: on the one hand, values are visualised aesthetically and rendered as an abstract image composed of lines and colour fields - a kind of modern, generated painting; on the other hand, the image changes from day to day, allowing passers-by to read the building's energy balance. Detailed and in-depth information on the building's energy values can be obtained via a touch screen located in the middle of the stele. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2012.
