Artistic direction of the exhibition 2020

In 2020 the DomQuartier focuses on Salzburg’s great musical tradition, which is inseparably bound up with the history and the various rooms in the Residenz and the Cathedral precinct, as well as with Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, Georg Muffat, Antonio Caldara, Leopold and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Michael Haydn – long before the inauguration of the Salzburg Festival.

Sconarium Visitor Centre for Bad Schönau

Conception and implementation of the exhibition content 2019

The Bad Schönau spa community built the "Sconarium" for 2.8 million euros, a modern visitor and event centre dedicated entirely to the subject of therapy and natural carbon dioxide gas. The company Handler Bau with its project partners Atelier Mauch and checkpointmedia was commissioned to build and implement the sconarium following a call for tenders.

The installation "tx-mirror" was created for the exhibition "Art in Motion. 100 masterpieces with and through media" at the ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe and is a further development of the film technology "tx-transform" invented by Martin Reinhart in 1992.

A Rube Goldberg machine is a deliberately complex contraption in which a series of devices that perform simple tasks are linked together to produce a domino effect in which activating one device triggers the next device in the sequence. The expression is named after American cartoonist and inventor of such contraptions, Rube Goldberg.

After checkpointmedia had already played a leading role in the great jubilee celebration "70 Years of the Marshall Plan" and had put together an exhibition for this occasion, which could subsequently be seen at various locations in Austria, the materials developed were also to be prepared for teaching purposes and thus made available to schools throughout Austria.

The anniversary exhibition "70 Years of the Marshall Plan", which was shown for the first time as part of a major event in June 2017, is going on tour: in October and November 2017 the exhibition dedicated to the story of the European Recovery Program was presented at the Ministry of Economics in Vienna.

In 1867 the School of Arts and Crafts was established at the Imperial Royal Austrian Museum of Art and Industry (today’s MAK) to enable Austrian arts and crafts to compete internationally. This school is the antecedent institution of today’s University of Applied Arts Vienna, which is now celebrating its 150th anniversary.
The exhibition AESTHETICS OF CHANGE: 150 Years of the University of Applied Arts Vienna in two parts casts a glance back onto 150 years of the University’s history, while at the same time daring to look into the future.
