The relaunch of the departure website at www.departure.at heralds the start of Austria's biggest online platform for the creative industries sector.Besides current trends and information on national and international events, the new website now offers constantly updated facts and figures on companies in the creative sector that are supported by departure. All this makes www.departure.at the most complete "marketplace" for the field of creative industries in Austria - and it is diligently managed by departure. All the projects presented on the site were pre-selected by independent juries as part of the departure sponsorship programme, which means they all meet a harmonized set of high quality standards. This makes www.departure.at an essential research tool for companies in the classic fields of business that are looking for creative service providers, whether nationally or internationally. The platform was created by checkpointmedia using the JART content management system.

The EU Capital of Culture Linz 2009 will be administrating its numerous projects with a web-based database from checkpointmedia. Project activities, finance, evaluations, descriptions and associated documentation (pictures, texts) can be collated via the JART Content Management System and then used both in internal workflow processes and also for external communication. Local installation of a program on workstations is not necessary as the database can be operated easily and quickly using a web browser. Further features of the database include: automatic website link (all project details are based on XML data); basis for the compilation of printed items (catalogue, programme etc.); allocation in categories; granting of various access rights; administration of all event locations and associated information (start times etc.); administration of all project manager activities; external project partners able to access parts of the database to enable smoother cooperation and workflow; basis for an online diary to enable all the people concerned access to Linz09 projects; integrated contact management; integrated newsletter module.

The Albert Wimmer ZT studio has been working in the fields of architecture and urban environments for the past 30 years. A string of successes in important competitions made it possible for the studio to carry out large-scale projects such as the power station in Freudenau and, currently, the new central railway station in Vienna, the new conference centre at the Vienna UNO City and the construction of a new stadium in Klagenfurt for the European football championships. checkpointmedia programmed and developed the new website.

On its new website the Austrian Film Commission offers a comprehensive database on Austrian films plus a wide range of services including a festival calendar, news, industry guide etc. A clear layout provides film buffs and filmmakers with fast access to information: all the information is linked by means of a database that makes cross references between all the possible categories - from the latest news to general information about a director and his or her filmography. Search functions (full text search, search for individuals, film titles, categories etc.) round off the site's services. In addition, the site also contains a festival calendar that marks those festivals at which Austrian films will be shown and an industry guide with the latest figures on the Austrian film industry.

In cooperation with Belvedere Palace, checkpointmedia completed the programming and implementation of the website with the JART Content Management System in less than six weeks. The graphics were created by Maurizio Poletto from the design studio collettiva. The website contains a clearly laid-out and compact presentation of the palace's splendour and its attractive collections of artworks. It not only offers visitors quick access to general information but also focuseson the palace's new centrepieces - collections in the Upper Belvedere, the exhibition forum, exhibitions in the Lower Belvedere. 2007 the new "Culture Factor"“ in the converted former tobacco factory in Hainburg was opened. A "media panel" provides information on the history of the area, the flora and fauna found above and in the water and the development of the renaturized river bank. A film loop running on six monitors shows an animated feature on the development of the bank since 1773, images of the fauna found on the flood plain and a brief history of the power station that was once planned in Hainburg. Checkpointmedia was responsible for creating the panel, the audiovisuals and lighting as well as the production of the loop that consists of several films.

The Swarovski Crystal Worlds is among the most popular tourist spots in Austria. As part of the redevelopment of the Chambers of Wonder in 2007, additional highly appealing attractions were conceptualised and installed, which work with spatial scenarios and striking multimedia elements. In the section entitled "La Primadonna Assoluta", the visitor meets Jessye Norman, who can be seen in a performance in the Crystal Dome. The high quality audio and video presentation gives the spectator the feeling of being in the middle of a live performance of the final aria from Henry Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas". In the passageway leading from this section, a stylised subaquatic world is presented in "Poseidon's Puzzle". Lamellae, arranged in perspective, draw visitors onwards with light and sound compositions. With every step taken across a bridge, the world of images is transformed and the acoustic impression changes. Brian Eno's "55 Million Paintings by Brian Eno" shows the technical implementation of a concept developed by the artist, a generative artwork formed of image and sound sequences constantly re-assembling themselves into new configurations. The section "Reflections" is staged as a crystalline kaleidoscope, demonstrating the organizing principles of micro- and macrocosm. A sophisticated lighting control system and a 16-channel sound installation create a walk-in multimedia stage for the visitor. Various themes are played out in the form of images, graphics, illustrations, mirror and filmed animations on a total of 48 polyhedra and more than 300 screens.

checkpointmedia has upgraded the Brahms Hall in the Musikverein in Vienna with state-of-the-art audio technology. This new equipment enables checkpointmedia to accommodate those artists who wish to comment on their musical performance or combine it with narration or texts. The new equipment for the spoken word is used particularly for Allegretto and Capriccio, the concert cycles for children and young people, as well as for readings and the announcement of changes made to the programme at short notice. As Dr. Angyan, Director of the Musikverein, explains: "The musical performance is not affected, as the Brahms Hall's perfect acoustics do not need amplification." Thanks to a flexible infrastructure the equipment can be installed in various locations in the 600-seater hall that was built in 1870 with architecture reminiscent of Greek antiquity. To ensure a perfect sound, the concert hall, which is 32.5 metres long, 10.3 metres wide and 11 metres high, was meticulously measured and fitted with a loudspeaker management controller. In addition, connectible digital mixing desks facilitate the production of contemporary tonal images in the creative workshops for children and young people.

One year after the opening of the visitor centre, the technology and content of the research stations "Wer ist Wer?" (Who's who?) have been updated. The two stations "Wer ist Wer 1" (with data prior to 1918) and "Wer ist Wer 2" (with data from 1918 to the present day) were merged. As a result, all the information can now be viewed on all three available stations at the same time. The search function was revised as well and now permits combined queries according to several criteria such as person, federal province and political party.

The mediation process viemediation.at focused on the current impact of the airport as well as its environmentally relevant expansion plans.
All final documents and agreements are available on the platform, which also has a search function. The website displays a chronology of events together with concomitant scientific research and an online discussion forum.
checkpointmedia was responsible for designing and developing the website.

Following the mediation process on the proposed expansion plans of Vienna International Airport, it is the task of the Vienna International Airport Dialogue Forum to foster continued communication between parties to the proceedings. Key issues are current airport operations, the airport’s expansion plans, and the impact on communities and residents.
checkpointmedia was responsible for the conceptual design and development of the website using CMS JART.

Stiftung Kindertraum grants wishes to critically ill and handicapped children. It provides help unbureaucratically to parents who do not have at their disposal the necessary financial means or organisational know-how.

The voestalpine Group is an internationally successful corporation with approximately 360 production and sales companies that manufacture, process and develop high-quality steel products in more than 60 countries. The voestalpine Group's headquarters are in Linz. As part of a competition, checkpointmedia developed a concept for a visitor centre that was designed to provide an all-round experience and information and serve as the starting point for the tour of the company. The aim of the concept was to create a narrative discovery thread that would accompany

visitors on their way through the visitor centre and around the works premises. The combination of authentic experience and imaginatively presented information opens the door to the "voestalpine adventure". The centrepiece of the world of information and discovery was the "Steel Theatre" consisting of artefacts, projections, mirrored effects and stage sets that merge into a choreographed whole in an oversized room. Steel components that weigh tons seem to float weightlessly in the room, details of the manufacturing process approach, change their shape and

disappear again. A virtual horizon shows situations, which demonstrate the use of steel products. A stage set consisting of elements from the preceding company tour offers endlessly changing perspectives as they cross-fade. This project by checkpointmedia was not carried out.

An information system was commissioned by the municipal department responsible for Vienna's kindergartens (MA 10) to increase the efficiency of the way customers who visit the service desk are dealt with. Customers are first registered in the central system, then allocated a counsellor and a room and finally called. Customer queries and any referrals to other service desks are recorded during the counselling session and subsequently electronically processed.

In the Swarovski Chamber of Wonder by Brian Eno, "55 Million Crystals by Brian Eno", checkpointmedia carried out the technical implementation of Eno's vision for Lumen London, mediapool and clear fog. What is unique about it is the fact that no visitor ever sees the same image or hears the same sound. By using images and sound sequences that ceaselessly shift into new configurations, Eno demonstrates the ephemeral nature of the moment and the true meaning of originality.

The "Mozart Minute" microsite is created as an addition to the website of Vienna Mozart Year 2006.

Together with riecom, Sigrid Markl carried out a feasibility study on behalf of checkpointmedia for the construction of an adventure world on the former premises of Austria Tabak in Fürstenfeld. Taking the word "happiness" as a starting point, a creative concept was developed for presentations and installations, which would fit in with, and make full use of, the existing structure of the building. Information and adventure elements are combined in a storyline that makes use of the entire building and integrates spatial and multimedia installations. In addition, the study took into account visitor frequency and a traffic concept. A merchandising line was developed and the interface with the local tourism concept was delineated.

checkpointmedia creates a new website for the financial service provider Financecoaching.

The Cresnet Hub was developed as an addition to 24V power supply of Crestron systems used in public spaces and homes to control audio units, video, blinds, air-conditioning etc. Up to twelve lines lead from the Cresnet PSU/hub (star formation, max. length 1000m). The current supplied to the connected appliances (e.g. touch panels) is 200 W per line maximum, or 600 W maximum total load. Each of the lines is monitored. In the event of overload, the 24V power supply is shut off and an error message appears on the appliance's LED display. All status reports on the Cresnet Hub (temperature, load per line, total load, communications errors etc.) are transmitted via a serial interface and can be displayed on a touch panel, web server or computer.

Media station for the exhibition "Between Heaven and Earth - Mozart's Sacred Music" - 8 April to 5 November 2006. Sacred music formed the major part of Mozart’s work while he was in Salzburg. As a court musician he regularly composed and performed for the archbishop. In Vienna he wrote only a few sacred pieces, but his final and most famous work is a holy mass: the "Requiem", which still strongly influences the way we view his genius today. The exhibition was divided into three chapters and deals with the world of religious life, Mozart's sacred compositions and the internal and external conflicts he was engaged in as a servant of the court, an artist and a man. checkpointmedia adapted a media station that presented pictures relating to Mozart's work as a rear projection.

With phase IV, the final phase of the comprehensive website for Vienna’s Mozart Year 2006 is completed.

checkpointmedia again relaunches the IT-SC website.
In the lobby, visitors are entertained by an automatic multimedia / mechanical wall installation while they wait and a mobile trade fair terminal, which also features a distinctive mixture of mechanics and multimedia, provides more detailed information on IT-SC’s range of services. Synchronisation with the website ensures that the information is always up to date.

With the programme planning tool for TW1, weekly TV listings can be planned internally and presented externally on the TW1 website. The tool was created in 2003, expanded in 2004 and has now undergone another comprehensive update.

TW1 is the television weather channel of the Austrian state broadcaster ORF. After having implemented a programme planning tool for in-house use, checkpointmedia took on the technical implementation of the channel's website. The screen design was supplied by TW1.

The website includes the following topics: listings (currently showing and previews), tourism and leisure pages, sports programmes, programme archive, weather cameras and much more.

The website and the online submission facility were created using the JART XML framework, as commissioned by Diagonale – Festival of Austrian Film. A complete solution for festival management was implemented using the ticket system link.

On Austria's National Holiday 2006 the Palais Epstein, newly renovated according to the specifications of architects Georg Töpfer and Alexander van der Donk, opened its doors. During its 130 years’ history the building has been used for very different purposes: first as a residential home and business premises, belonging initially to the Epstein family, then to a British gas company, then as a local authority office building. In this capacity it accommodated the Higher Administrative Court, the Vienna School Board, and under the NS-regime the contruction department of the Reich's Governor's Office; after WW II it housed the Soviet city command, then briefly became the Academy for Music and Fine Arts until it once again housed the Vienna School Board. Finally it was designated for parliamentary purposes. checkpointmedia designed and implemented the corporate design, the website, the exhibition furniture and all the media stations for the permanent exhibition about the building history, the Epstein family and Jewish Vienna, and the subsequent varied history of the house.

Hans Magnus Enzensberger developed the idea for a "poetry generator" capable of producing poems automatically as long ago as 1974. Discussions between André Heller, the developer Christian Bauer and Virgil Widrich led to the creation of a development concept. The online portal of the weekly journal "Die Zeit" was secured as the most important distributor of the poetry generator, which was developed by Christian Bauer and his team. The poetry generator can be tested at:

checkpointmedia has designed and produced a comprehensive marketing package for the BuPP (Federal Office for Positive Rating of Computer and Console Games) which includes the creation of the website and an information DVD as well as the design and production of a booklet and a brochure.

The ministry responsible for youth issues follows the principle of "recommending what is good instead of banning what is bad" and provides an appropriate tool to accomplish this in the shape of the Federal Office for Positive Rating of Computer and Console Games (BuPP for short). It is the ministry that supports and carries responsibility for the BuPP, its infrastructure and the measures it takes in the fields of communication, public relations and awareness raising. The BuPP offers parents and guardians guidance by recommending good games. In the view of the BuPP, a good game is one that first and foremost is fun to play and exploits the positive potential of computer games as far as possible.

On Vienna Airport's Investor Relations page a tool has been added that calculates the dividends expected for shareholders.

Using the JART 3.0 Content Management System checkpointmedia has created the website www.ing-diba.at in line with the new international ING-DiBa CI-criteria. One of the foremost considerations was the stringent security requirements of a website for the field of online banking. The website offers bank customers comprehensive information on individual products and services as well as a range of online help features (e.g. integrated interest calculator, interactive online banking demo). All the features one would expect to find such as full text search, variable font size, a comprehensive press section etc. are available, as are infotainment elements such as the viewing and downloading of various TV spots. ING-DiBa's online banking and intranet have also been given a facelift, which was completed by the beginning of 2007.

checkpointmedia has produced a CD-ROM in two languages which is not only packed with information on areas of interest such as infrastructure, the development of traffic, the environment, future prospects and past successes but also enables the user to edit the content to suit his or her own needs. Using a notepad function the user can cull all the facts and figures of particular interest to him or her quickly and easily. In a special media library a large number of photos, texts and videos are available for downloading.

The website developed according to the BUWOG design offers a detailed search facility for real estate and an online guide for ESG tenants.

Vienna's most modern office park, the EURO PLAZA, provides office space and a working environment "of the highest quality down to the last detail".

checkpointmedia took on the task of creating an internet presence of equally high quality. Besides a wealth of information on available facilities and current construction projects for tenants and others interested in superior office space, the site also offers numerous services such as reservation of the EURO PLAZA conference centre. Our JART CMS means that the site's entire content can be updated quickly and easily during the next phases of the EURO PLAZA's development.

The new website of Vienna International Airport was completed in less than three and a half months.

The site was relaunched with a completely revamped layout and contents. The main aims of this redesign were to improve the services offered, increase the amount of information available and enhance the site's performance. Essential information is now available in Czech and Slovak, with other languages to follow. At the same time the website aims to reflect the pleasure of travel and the emotiveness of certain meeting places. Following the launch of phase 1 the site's content will gradually be extended.

Since April 2006 the new website of the International Mozarteum Foundation has been online. Besides offering the chance to order tickets for all the events featured, the site also provides information and services on the Mozart museums, the foundation itself, Mozart’s life and all aspects of this particular area of scientific research. Concept, design and programming are all by checkpointmedia in cooperation with Franz Kelnreiter/ISM

During the 130 years of its existence, Palais Epstein has been used for more than a dozen different purposes: as a residential and commercial building for the Epstein family, as the headquarters of the English Gas Board, as a local authority office building (for Austria's Higher Administrative Court, the Vienna School Board, and the Department of Building of the Governor of the Reich under the NS regime), as the city headquarters of the Soviet army, a branch of the Academy of Music and the Performing Arts, and once again as the seat of the Vienna School Board, before it was finally adapted for parliamentary purposes.Five media stations equipped with high-format 30-inch screens enabled visitors to call up texts, pictures, graphics, animation films and short video clips. One animation film showed "Owners and utilisation of the buildings on the Ringstrasse in 1914", another provided an overview of the inhabitants of the Palais Epstein building complex during the last century. A special station was devel-oped about the Epstein family, with a family tree interface and a family tree animation film. The presentation of this Jewish family's social network was researched on the basis of an extensive address book. The Palais as a residential and bank building was presented by means of a drawing that allowed visitors a glimpse inside, as well as providing information about the rooms, their uses and their inhabitants. Objects from the building's long history, exhibited in specially manufactured showcases, also formed part of the exhibition, as did original pieces of furniture and paintings.

Vienna, Domgasse 5: since 27 January 2006 (Mozart's 250th birthday), this fully refurbished house containing Mozart's former apartment, the only one of his Viennese residences still in existence today, has paid homage to the life and work of the musical genius. The exibition is on three floors and covers an area of approximately 1,000m². The audio-visual installations in the Mozarthaus are inspired by media techniques and "worlds of wonder" of Mozart's time. At that time, decades before the invention of photography and film, optical experiments and illusions, automatons and mechanical tricks were becoming fashionable and madepeople gasp in astonishment. A video and sound installation in the roofed courtyard shows a Montgolfier balloon on multiple monitors rising up with the lift. The journey continues on the top floor, with a flight over historic Vienna and the most important places associated with Mozart's "golden years" in the imperial capital. A mini "perspective theatre" and a large panorama projection across the "Graben Nymphs" present the gallant, dashing side of the 18th century as an erotic game of discovery. An installation on the theme of "Figaro" combines the principle of old puzzle dice games with modern aesthetics and video technology. The grand finale is the multimedia homage to Mozart's opera "The Magic Flute"; a stage set made of scenery, projections and lighting effects showing a short version of "The Magic Flute" as virtual "mirror opera" from 1791 to the present day. Film footage of legendary productions is projected into the partly real, partly virtual stage landscape. Papageno moves as a projection through space and time and presents the main arias from the opera.
checkpointmedia won the Austrian State Prize for Multimedia 2006 for the media installations in the Mozarthaus Vienna. The function room in the basement has been equipped with the latest audio and video technology, making it available as a modern venue for a wide range of events e.g. classical concerts.

In its exhibition "working_world.net", the Museum of the Working World in Steyr depicts the dramatic changes taking place in the working world. Instead of providing simple answers, it offers multifaceted approaches to illustrating the complexity of open-ended globalisation processes now shaping the modern (working) world. The mechanisms of increasingly complex international interlacing in production and the effects of this on work, life and society are explored from the combined perspectives of art and science. checkpointmedia was responsible for planning and implementing the museum's media technology, including numerous large-scale projections.

A separate zone especially for adults has been developed and installed for the website of the ZOOM children’s museum in Vienna’s Museumsquartier.
The site content is being compiled and administered by means of the JART content management system, into which the existing website for children has also been integrated. One of the first steps was the implementation of an online booking facility.

‘Who is who from 1907 to 1918 and from 1918 to the present day?` Both stations provide, amongst other things, encyclopaedic information about Members of Parliament which can be accessed by clicking on the interactive seating plan. A special statistics section presents comprehensive information to the public for the first time. Each legislative period is supplemented with a historical summary.

checkpointmedia is responsible for the website of the Western Union International Bank in Europe and has now created the latest sub-website for Germany which contains comprehensive information and a full range of service functions.

Young musicans from 18 nations are taking part in the "Eurovision Young Musicians 2006" competition. Full information on the participants can be found on the official website.

The concept and graphic design of checkpointmedia’s website were given a complete overhaul. The fields of expertise were summarised in separate service segments and made immediately accessible by an interactive flash graphic on the start page. In addition, information on current and completed projects could be accessed on a comprehensive list of references. Case studies could be selected as examples that provided more detailed descriptions of the way projects are planned and carried out, and highlighted some of the projects’ special features.
The expanded press section showed press reviews from recent years and offered downloads relating to every business sector.

Top Kino sees itself as a total concept. The central idea behind the venue is: `Gute Filme sehen, davor/danach etwas essen und trinken und viel über Film-Kino-Ess-Trink-Kultur diskutieren ?` (‘See a good film, eat and drink beforehand or afterwards and discuss at length the culture of eating, drinking and watching films at the cinema?’).
checkpointmedia was responsible for developing the website. The film programme can be searched according to different categories. Full information about individual films is provided in images and text.

IngDiba is the largest international direct bank with services only available online.
checkpointmedia has developed an interest calculator for the ‘direct saving’ section, aimed at helping IngDiba customers decide on the right type of saving scheme for them. One-off or monthly deposits can be entered as well as saving options and the savings period. The interest calculator gives the final amount after deduction of capital gains tax. Expected interest gains can be seen at a glance.

The website provides information about shops, restaurants and bistros at the airport including opening times and the range of products and services offered. The search function can be filtered according to a number of different categories (e.g. open 24 hours a day) and the relevant information displayed, as required.
checkpointmedia was responsible for the design and creation of the shopping and gastronomy section of the website.

The Multipot-64 was developed to control complex lighting environments such as those used for exhibitions. The use of several light sources that are dynamically adjusted in a content-appropriate manner assists centre-stage settings for interactive shop windows. In doing so, the light sources may only emit small, targeted quantities of light. The Multipot-64 controls up to 64 controllable power supply units by means of 1-10V interfaces (e.g. Instatronic transfomer, fluorescent tubes-electronic control gear). Alternatively, the interfaces can also be used to operate LEDs. Control is obtained via DMX or RS232 interfaces. The latter provide a large number of dimming curves in order to enable extensive programming with the limited data rate of the RS232 protocol. Every channel is configured for the required terminal via the RS232 interface and must be provided with a corresponding lighting characteristic curve. The configuration is stored in the flash memory.

In 2006 checkpointmedia was responsible for relaunching Armstrong Consulting’s English website with the aid of the JART Content Management System.

The Chamber of Commerce in Vienna is supplied with a mobile information terminal that can be used at different sites to display information relevant to the given location.
