Project details
The Künstlerhaus Experience App invites users on a virtual journey through 160 years of the Vienna Künstlerhaus. Historical photographs, plans, documents, and archival materials have been digitally processed, enhanced with augmented reality, and integrated into the real spaces of the Künstlerhaus and its surrounding environment.
Virtual overlays reveal former façade designs, architectural details, and interim uses in a new context. Inside the building, the app vividly conveys cultural and historical topics such as the legendary Gschnas parties, historical costume designs, and past exhibitions. Historical data is visually staged and made newly accessible as immersive content – contributing to an expanded digital experience of cultural heritage.
The app’s content is also fed into the European cultural heritage platform Europeana, helping to sustainably preserve and connect digital heritage.
